Also, when one thinks of making a new paper, the cost of buying raw materials is very high. Hence, it is beneficial to make complete use of a paper which already exists by recycling it. Another important reason for recycling of paper is the biodegradable nature of the paper. When paper gets accumulated in a landfill it crumples and deteriorates and gets converted into methane which is a powerful greenhouse gas.

The tree, from which paper is obtained, is one of the most important natural resources. Since trees release oxygen which is inhaled by humans and consume carbon dioxide which is exhaled by humans, they help in maintaining equilibrium between oxygen and carbon dioxide in the environment. Hence by cutting trees in order to make new paper, we disturb this balance which in turn leads to problems like climate change and global warming. For this reason, we need to recycle paper and also because it is observed that energy required in recycling a paper is less than that required for making new paper.
