After the cans are collected they are either flattened or shredded as per the scale of operations. These cans are then shipped by a sea container or truck to the smelting plants. These cans are first checked for the moisture content and the quality. After the inspection is complete they are shredded into smaller pieces.

These are then put into an oven so that the paint and the moisture in them are removed. Then the contaminants and the dirt are removed by passing this through a small screen. These are then heated to a temperature of 650 degree centigrade so that it melts and combines with the other molten metal present.
