People should adapt to recycling as a natural process and not because they want to save the environment. In the end it is a beneficial act. It gives back money to you and prevents other people from buying more. There are many benefits of recycling. Sadly, not many people recycle in the world. It is the attitude that has to do with it. |
As of now, in the world there are more people who waste raw materials than people who recycle. People still use plastic at large and waste paper towels. These are just examples of what people do on a daily basis. Also, recycling in some countries is higher than the other. People in the UK are the most energy efficient, and also use maximum number of recycled materials.
Every year nearly 30 million tones of waste are generated in one country alone. These go into landfills. The disposable nappies that people throw away take 500 years to decompose. People can use cloth nappies instead and wash them.
If one ton of paper is recycled, then 17 trees are saved. By recycling one glass bottle, we can power an electric bulb for 4 hours.
Today in spite of knowing the benefits of recycling nearly 40 percent of the world’s population do not recycle. If we make conscious efforts to recycle, then we can cut down on nearly 40 percent of our purchases. There are hundreds of ways to recreate and reuse the stuff that we already have.
So many things that we use in our day to day lives have more than one use for us. For example, a peanut butter jar can become a container after the butter is used up. Why buy containers?
