It is not only the duty of government and large corporations to work on environmental issues like water pollution. Even kids and every individual can contribute to water pollution.

Let us have a look at few simple steps on how to stop water pollution:

  1. Prevent flushing down oil and greasy substances through kitchen basin. It can lead to contamination of ground water and other water bodies too. Store the used cooking oil in plastic or similar containers and then donate the oil when stored in large amounts for recycling.
  2. Disposing of household cleaning products, polishes, and paints too can lead to contribution of controlling water pollution. Dispose them for recycling.
  3. Dispose sanitary napkins and other non biodegradable substances into thrash rather than throwing in waste dumps near water bodies. They may slowly get littered to oceans and contaminating the large water bodies.
  4. Farmers must be encouraged to use organic and natural fertilizers whenever possible. Also steps should be taken to control run off and sewage pollution to control water pollution.
  5. Encouraging the practice of tree planting and forestation among kids. Teaching them from kinder-garden how to deal with wastes and not litter the surrounding.
  6. Making better provisions for industrial waste and make recycling to the possible extent before dumping off the waste. And manage the waste properly so that it doesn’t affect too much the natural water bodies.
