Any of these criterions can make a substance toxic. The toxic wastes either solid or liquid have the following five characters – corrosivity, ignitability, toxicity, reactivity, and posing hazards to the environment or biological organisms. According to Title 40 of Code of Federal Regulations the following process cause toxic wastes in the environment.

Pesticides: These chemicals are designed to control population of insects that invade plants and agricultural fields. Some pesticides are not that harmful to the environment but pesticides like DDT can be sufficiently harmful to the environment and can enter food chain of human beings.

Mining Waste: The toxic wastes of mining include substances like sulfuric acid, lead, arsenic, and other similar hazardous products. Mining operations has always been responsible for creating wastes and such wastes are really toxic to the environment.

Industrial Waste: Industries are most probably the widest sources for creating toxic wastes in the environment. The waste products of industries have no limits and it can include from slightly harmful to highly toxic wastes including radioactive substances. Some popular wastes from industries include chromium, cadmium, chlorine treated waste, solvents that include fluorocarbons, acetone, cyanides and other such toxic substances.

Radioactive Waste: With the world hell bent on becoming nuclear power has certainly affected the environment to some extent. The radioactive wastes from nuclear power plants and other sources where nuclear energy is used are highly radioactive and pose threat the species of any kind.

Effects-Of-Toxic-Waste      Toxic wastes can cause serious injury to health and at times may be responsible for creating havoc in an area. The toxic waste is often used as an interchange for hazardous waste. The toxic wastes either solid or liquid have the following five characters – corrosivity, ignitability, toxicity, reactivity, and posing hazards to the environment or biological organisms. According to Title 40 of Code of Federal Regulations the toxic waste comes from sources like – pesticides, mining wastes, industrial wastes, radioactive wastes and others. More..
