The waste materials from industries, factories and even household activities which can be threatening to natural environment, lakes, rivers, living species including humans are called toxic wastes. |
They can cause serious injury to health and at times may be responsible for creating havoc in an area. The toxic waste is often used as an interchange for hazardous waste. They are actually discarded materials which pose long time serious threat to the environment.Like most pollution problems the toxic waste too can be serious problem to human species and also have negative effect to the human environment. We usually refer the toxic waste as product of industries and commerce, but there is also contribution of every household to this. The residential waste can be more complicated because of mixing all the waste together and creating problem for recycling. The other responsible areas for creating toxic wastes are – agriculture, military testing, warfare, medical facilities, light industries, radioactive sources and even from dry cleaning industries.
Health Risks due to Toxic Wastes
The toxic wastes are always hazardous to human and environment. First the chemicals in the waste can be responsible for entering into food chain of humans through animal meat or agricultural products. These can be little carcinogenic and may trigger such formal of cells it the body.
The toxic wastes can seep into the water bodies and also contaminated ground water levels beyond expectations. It can create imbalance of ecosystem in marine life and also pollute the surrounding with foul smell, and harboring disease creating microbes.
