But the manner of pollution that is happening is the same – the pollutants remain the same regardless.    You have smog. It is what the result of pollution from industrialized fumes. These fumes consist of various chemicals that are released from the chimneys of factories when they react and form totally new chemicals. Thus they form a dark cloud over the area which can be seen if you fly over a place that has had too much of this kind of pollution depending on how bad it is. This causes acid rain to fall when the rain water mixes with these chemicals thus polluting the ground that if falls on. When plants and trees feed on the water, they die. It also tends to drastically change the chemical balance in water bodies that the water falls on.

Ozone depletion is another kind of air pollution that is putting the planet in danger. Some pollutants have a direct affect on the stratosphere – the layer on the atmosphere which blocks the ultraviolet radiation from entering the Earth. They have many harmful effects like causing skin cancer and they also harm plant and animal life. Chlorofluorocarbons (better known as CFC’s) and cooling system (especially refrigerators) emit gases that affect the ozone layer (stratosphere).  It is one of the most important dangers of pollution of the air.
