Air pollution- Air is polluted as a result of the burning of fossil fuels. Factories and vehicles use large amounts of fossil fuels daily. Steel factories, cement factories, refineries, petrochemical industry are the main contributors to air pollution.
The burning of fossil fuels releases a large amount of smoke and harmful chemicals into the air. These gases and particulate matter can cause problems like breathing trouble, asthma, rhinitis etc

Water pollution- The release of harmful chemicals and toxins into water bodies results in water pollution. This happens when companies unscrupulously release untreated waste into water bodies. Similarly, insecticides and pesticides used to treat plants can also get leached into water bodies. These chemicals can cause excess growth of algae in water bodies. This contaminates water bodies and blocks sunlight, thereby resulting in the death of aquatic flora and fauna. Chemicals from the water bodies also enter the food chain and affect both humans and animals.

Land pollution- Junkyards filled with all kinds of waste and rubbish are a main example of land pollution. Similarly, the use of chemicals in agriculture, the disposal of industrial waste in pits etc cause land pollution. Harmful toxins and chemicals enter the water table and contaminate ground water. This affects humans also in a big way.

Noise pollution- This refers to the disturbance caused by blaring horns, supersonic jets, firecrackers, music at high volume etc. It is annoying and causes problems like irritation, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances etc, especially among small children and the elderly.

There are also other kinds of pollution like light pollution, radioactive pollution, visual pollution and so on.
