Research On The Effects Of Greenhouse On Plants

When greenhouse gases increase beyond natural levels, they start having a negative impact on nature. Carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gases and plants need it to survive. Carbon dioxide helps in the process of photosynthesis in plants and is also a life support for them. However, excess carbon dioxide can also cause harm to plants. When the greenhouse gases increase, they seem to have an adverse effect on the crops and green plants.

Greenhouse gases affect the plants directly and indirectly. When the Earth’s atmosphere gets heated up it affects rainfall and causes irregularities in the climatic conditions. This leads to drought and poor crops. The greenhouse effect causes the polar ice caps to melt and increases the sea level. The increasing level of water in the ocean causes extreme weather conditions like tornados and cyclones which have adverse effects on crops and plants’ growth.

Some scientists in Canada have noticed that when certain crops are stressed due to drought and unfavorable conditions, it increases the emission of greenhouse gases. Crops like lima bean, sunflowers and canola can release more methane into the atmosphere.

Greenhouse gases have an overall effect in the environment and not just on plants. If the environment is getting affected by extreme weather conditions or shortage of rainfall, then even plants do not grow too well. So the problem with greenhouse effect should be viewed from a 360 degree angle. Any aspect related to the earth’s atmosphere that is getting affected will show its adverse effects on the environment too.

The-Greenhouse-Effects-And-The-Current-Situation      Of late, the media is only talking about global warming and its negative effects. Global warming directly relates to greenhouse effects and throws light on the fact that the earth is warming up. The earth is made up of several gases like carbon dioxide, methane and nitrogen. The composition or ratio of these gases is well balanced naturally, by the earth. More..
