Effect Of Increasing Carbon Dioxide On Greenhouse Effect

Among all the greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide lives the longest. Carbon dioxide can trap heat for a longer period of time. Greenhouse effect is a natural process of the earth. Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane and nitrogen are all present in the earth’s atmosphere. The earth absorbs energy from the sun and these gases absorb the heat and retain it. And, the earth only absorbs the energy it needs.

Under natural circumstances, without pollution and other factors affecting, the earth’s temperature would have been 14 degree Celsius consistently. However, agricultural and industrial activities and car pollution have increased the earth’s temperature by adding gases like carbon dioxide to the atmosphere that keep the heat of the sunlight trapped on the surface of the Earth.

Carbon dioxide has the capacity to hold heat for the longest period of time. So, when people add to the levels of carbon dioxide by causing it to increase, it also ends up increasing the heat energy in the atmosphere. Gradually, the temperature rises and the climate tends to become hot. Carbon dioxide is mostly generated by fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are coal and oil products like petrol.

Humans use coal to generate electricity and even nuclear power. The burning of fossil fuels creates carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide itself is used in many industries like those making aerated drinks, agriculture and medical industries.

Though carbon dioxide is used by plants for life processes and it plays a vital role on earth, excess of it can damage the natural environmental balance of the earth leading to enhanced greenhouse effect.

Fossil-Fuel-And-Greenhouse-Effect      Greenhouse effect is a natural process that the Earth has to go through periodically. It maintains the earth’s temperature at optimum levels so that living organisms can survive. Without the greenhouse effects, the earth would be a very cold place. Today, what the world is experiencing is the enhanced greenhouse effect. More..
