Climate change across the globe is caused by various extraterrestrial as well as terrestrial factors. Man made intervention into the existing natural flora and faunal communities has resulted in drastic changes in the ecosystem. Destruction of forests, burning of fossil fuels and emission of various greenhouse gases is only increasing the possibility of significant rise in the temperatures around the world. |
The balance between solar radiation and water evaporation has been greatly disturbed resulting in seasonal variations, unpredictable and highly variable rainfalls. This has caused decreased precipitation levels during the earlier predicted times for rainfall which further affects the landscape. Industrialization and urbanization has not only caused big changes in the lifestyle of people but also affected the environment to a great extent.
Global warming and the rise in the sea level have had great impacts on animal and human lives in every possible way. Uncontrolled and rapid population growth has disturbed the balance in the ecosystem. Human encroachment in various natural resources has shown to be very harmful to the ecosystem. An increase in the forest fires have resulted in a decrease in the amount of greenery present in the planet. Ozone layer has been destroyed and the poisonous chemicals of industries have polluted water bodies.
Drinking water has become contaminated by the various human activities. The level of ground water and quality of surface water has deteriorated, endangering certain plant and animal species in the world. Such species find it very hard to cope up with the sudden environmental changes. Mass destruction, nuclear power, use of weapons, wars has caused serious damages to the atmosphere.
