There were a number of evidences found in forms of structures. In 1903, at the tip of the northern Antarctic Peninsula, a stone hut was built to commemorate the Swedish expedition of Otto Nordenskjold’s. Another stone building stands at the north of Paulet Island where a Swedish expedition ship was trapped. Some of the huts from the expedition of Scott and Shackle still remain at the Ross Island in Antarctica. The ceremonial monument of Luis Pardo, a skipper from Chile stood the test of time and is without much weather and time damage.
In Petermann Island, there is a cross commemorating the Antarctic expedition of the three brave members from Britain. In the year 1982, they got lost in the sea of ice. In addition, research stations dating back more than 50 years ago were found. At the South Pole, a large American base was found which is evident of human presence and existence in the frozen and inhospitable continent. There are many such structures like the American base in this region.
Antarctica has a lot of evidence to substantiate a healthy growth in the population. In addition, traces of exploration and industrial establishments are abundant in this place. The fossils found in the continent lie beneath the large glaciers. Some of the fossils can also be found a few thousand feet above the ice.
Adventure enthusiasts have found dinosaur fossils but extracting them has been hard under extreme weather conditions. Most of these expeditions are taken in summer when there is daylight for twenty-four hours, and the weather conditions are comparatively bearable.
